Paul Broschay

Since becoming a member of the State Bar of Michigan in 1984, he has devoted virtually his entire career to representing injured persons both in Michigan and in states throughout the country, specializing in police brutality and medical malpractice.

His past experience as a police officer has allowed him to help and win cases for those experiencing injustice at the hands of law enforcement.

Prior to joining Giroux Ratton, Paul was an associate at Fieger, Fieger, Kenney and Schwartz, at the time a leading firm representing injured people. While at Fieger’s office, Paul concentrated on medical malpractice and cases involving law enforcement and correction officer misconduct. He handled several cases which resulted in multimillion dollar settlements and verdicts including ones that received national exposure and attention. In a case against Lord and Taylor Department Stores located in the Fairlane Mall in Dearborn, Michigan, an eight figure settlement resulted when security guards caused the death of a man mistaken as a shoplifter. In two other cases which were featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes program, Paul represented prisoners who died from abuse and neglect while incarcerated in Michigan prisons. Each case resulted in a multi-million dollar judgment.

Paul also litigated several lawsuits in which people died from compression asphyxia while in the custody of police. A local pathologist who acted as an expert witness during the cases has gone on record crediting Paul’s work with influencing better training of police officers and a reduction of death and injury to people at the hands of local police. While at the Fieger Firm, Paul litigated 14 cases which had results of over a million dollars. Prior to his tenure at Feiger Law, Paul was an associate at the high profile offices of Zeff and Zeff, P.C. where he was exposed early on to high stake, high damage cases and focused on cases involving serious injuries.

Paul was born and raised in the City of Detroit and attended Wayne State. While attending Wayne State he became a Detroit Police Officer and was able to gain a wealth of experience while patrolling the very area where he grew up, the west side of Detroit. While working as a police officer he attended Detroit College of Law and graduated in 1984.

Paul lives with his wife Laura and daughter Sarah in Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
